Delirium vs. Dementia

It's delirium, not dementia! How to determine the difference.

American Delirium Society

ADS has developed this guide for patients and families so that they understand what delirium is, what it looks like, and what can be done to help. Families know their loved one best. They can help the healthcare team better identify when there is a change in their loved one’s ability to think or function as they usually do. Delirium is a warning sign that a person needs help right away.

The International Federation of Delirium Societies: iDelirium

The impact of delirium has no borders. As a result, solutions to delirium require broad thinking and strong advocacy. Founded in 2015, the International Federation of Delirium Societies (iDelirium) seeks to fill this role by coordinating the message of delirium across the world’s professional delirium societies. It serves as a unifying voice for delirium societies with representatives from the American Delirium Society, Australasian Delirium Association and European Delirium Association. iDelirium also serves as the official planning committee for World Delirium Awareness Day.
